Opportunity: Law Researcher – Office of the Chief Justice

Salary Scale: R444,036 – R532,602 per annum (Level 09)
Location: National Office, Midrand
The Office of the Chief Justice is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Law Researcher. This pivotal role offers an annual remuneration ranging between R444,036 and R532,602, based on a Level 09 salary scale. The selected candidate will be expected to enter into a performance agreement to ensure commitment and delivery of high-quality legal support.
Educational and Professional Requirements:
- Matric certificate.
- LLB degree or equivalent four-year legal qualification.
- At least three (3) years of relevant legal experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
Desirable Attributes:
- Prior exposure to the workings of Commissions or Tribunals will be advantageous.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficient in legal research and analytical skills.
- Strong report writing and editing capabilities.
- Effective project management, planning, and organizational skills.
- Keen attention to detail with a focus on accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both independently and under pressure.
- Willingness to undertake travel as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a complaints register.
- Register and manage complaints against Judges.
- Handle litigation involving the Judicial Service Commission.
- Analyze legal documents and pleadings.
- Provide secretariat support to the Judicial Conduct Committee.
- Prepare documentation for committee members and maintain stakeholder relations.
- Compile recommendations for the Chief Justice and the President.
- Ensure effective administrative support to the JSC and maintain the JSC database.
