Preparing for your interview

Congratulations! You’ve been invited to an interview with the team and that is no small feat. This means your application stood out and now we are looking forward to getting to know you beyond the written submissions.

It is completely natural to feel a mix of emotions, from excitement to nervousness. The key is preparation. Here are some practical tips to help you feel more confident and ready for your interview.

  1. Diarize the details: Make sure that you note the time, date and venue/platform for your interview. Set a reminder a day before and at least an hour before the schedule time. Should you not be able to make the interview, make sure you communicate with us in time.
  1. Do your research: This goes beyond memorizing our vision and mission but visit our website, read about our programme and browse our social media platforms. Get a sense of our values and what drives our work. Take note of any arising questions you might have or gaps in your understanding.
  1. Reflect on your application: Revisit what you submitted in your application. Reflect on your motivations, your story and how they connect with SWCM’s vision.
  1. Look presentable: Whether in person or online, show up polished and professional. Your appearance doesn’t need to be formal, but it should reflect care and intention.
  1. Show up as your best self: Be authentic. We want to meet the real you not a rehearsed version. Let your passion and potential shine through.

What can you expect in the interview?

Trying to anticipate what questions will be asked in your interview can be extremely difficult. Different organizations have different approaches but at SWCM we want to get to know YOU better. We are less concerned with perfection and more interested in your story , your values and your aspirations.

While we don’t expect you to have all the answers, being reflective and applying yourself to your answers can go a long way.

Here are the types of questions you might encounter

  • Questions about yourself, your background and studies.
  • Questions about your “Why”
  • Questions about your engagement with the organization

This is more than just an interview, it’s a conversation. We are rooting for you to succeed, whether here at SWCM or elsewhere on your path. Be honest, open and trust that who you are is more than enough.

You’ve got this!
